Dane + Erin | Traverse City Engagement
Just a few days before their wedding, we met Dane and Erin face to face for the very first time. I remember thinking throughout their engagement session how peaceful and calm they seemed with their wedding less than a week away. But that’s the thing about Dane and Erin; they are so authentically themselves. They know what is important to them and what they care about, so naturally all of the other details just fall into place.

It was a beautiful evening at the end of July, wildflower fields aglow in golden summer light, when we met Dane and Erin at Maple Bay Natural Area. We frolicked (no, literally) through fields as birds flew overhead, the two of them simply delighting in each other’s company. As they night wore on and the sun began to sink in the sky, we wandered the path through the thick wood that eventually opened to the beach. It was here underneath the moon and to the song of the seagulls that we watched the sunset with these two and looked with eager anticipation to their wedding only three days away.
Wildflower Engagement | Jordan + Paige | Port Oneida
Jordan and Paige’s wildflower engagement is hands down one of our top five favorite engagement photo shoots. From the dreamy wildflowers to the romantic picnic (complete with wine from their winery wedding venue), to the glowing sunset on the beach
Jordan and Paige’s wildflower engagement is hands down one of our top five favorite engagement photo shoots. From the dreamy wildflowers to the romantic picnic (complete with wine from their winery wedding venue), to the glowing sunset on the beach—it was nothing less than THE perfect spring day. You would never even guess that when we first arrived to Port Oneida the sky was dark and cloudy and it had started to drizzle. These two were willing to brave the weather and we were thankfully met with only the slightest rainy mist. It felt like a movie as Jordan and Paige traipsed through the prettiest wildflower fields hand in hand. Our hearts were so full to photograph the love between these two and we are counting down the days until we can celebrate with them on their wedding day.
Tom and Jenn | October Engagement
Last October, Tom reached out to us with his plans to propose to his girlfriend, Jenn. He wanted to schedule an engagement session shortly after the proposal in order to capture the beautiful Fall colors in Traverse City.
Last October, Tom reached out to us with his plans to propose to his girlfriend, Jenn. He wanted to schedule an engagement session shortly after the proposal in order to capture the beautiful Fall colors in Traverse City. The moody sky made for an even more dramatic contrast to the pops of color amongst the trees. Tom and Jenn even brought along their sweet pup to join in a few of the photos. We loved capturing and celebrating their sweet October engagement with them. Check out some of our favorites below.
Rainy Engagement | Adam + Laura
This rainy engagement session turned into one of my all time favorites. We are so thankful for adventurous couples who trust our vision, despite what the circumstances might look like. Thanks to Adam and Laura for frolicking in the rain with us and being the perfect subjects for a moody, romantic engagement session.
When Adam and Laura made the drive up to Glen Haven for their engagement session, the forecast threatened some light sprinkles but claimed it would all pass through before we began their session. However, as those who live in Northern Michigan know, living on the lake means unpredictable weather. We made the drive out anyway and met them at the beach to scope out the weather and see if it would hold off. Alas, the forecast now showed a promise of rain through the night.
We proposed the idea to Adam and Laura of postponing their main engagement session until later in the year. They agreed but since they had driven all that way, we still wanted to have some fun with the situation. We asked them if they would be up for playing in the rain with us for twenty minutes just to see what we could create.
