Glen Haven Engagement | Mathieu + Madalyn
A serene evening out on Lake Michigan. What more could you ask for? As we explored Glen Haven together, feeling the sand beneath our feet, watching the sun filter through the trees, and hiking the dunes as the moon rose, we dove into their love story and learned more about them as a couple. These two are so comfortable and at ease together, like they were always meant to be, which of course made photographing them ridiculously easy.

We love engagement sessions for so many reasons. Oftentimes it’s our only chance to meet our couples face to face prior to their wedding day. Such was the case with Matt and Maddie so we chatted for a bit in the parking lot behind the old red Glen Haven Canning Co. building before jumping into photos.
The initial ‘hi, how are you’ turned quickly into laughing together and inside jokes that would come up later between us all on their wedding day. Luke + Alayna Engagement
A very very early spring day found us out at Port Oneida with these two for their engagement session. Snow still on the ground in some areas, but they had each other to keep warm while the wind swirled furiously and waves crashed along the shore. We got to cheer them on up close and personal as we witnessed them interact at their engagement session. It’s evident that at the root of their relationship they are genuinely best friends.
Every engagement and wedding story we photograph is a joy and privilege to be invited into. But there’s an extra layer of honor involved when we have the opportunity to photograph our friends.
I (Sarah) have known Luke and his family since before he was born. Our mothers were best friends as teenagers and the friendship continued as the families grew. To grow up together and witness different milestone moments in each other’s lives made it even more special when he and Alayna reached out about photography.

Fall Engagement | Jason + Sarah
There is nothing quite like how these two laugh together.
At one point, there were actual physical tears streaming down Sarah’s face from how hard Jason was making her laugh.
We spent the beautifully golden Fall evening with the happiest smiles on our faces as we watched these two interact.

Gerrit + Abby | Engagement
Gerrit and Abby are magical together and it was such a special privilege to be able to capture their relationship on camera.
Gerrit and Abby bring out the best versions of each other when they are together. The first time we met face to face was at their engagement session, yet it felt just like catching up with best friends. With their husky Worf in tow, we spent the evening exploring Port Oneida, learning more about their story, and laughing the deepest belly laughs ever. These two are magical together and it was such a special privilege to be able to capture their relationship on camera.
Luke + Katherine | Glen Haven Engagement
Luke and Katherine have a love that is so radiant it’s a wonder to behold.
Our first time meeting face to face as at their engagement session in Glen Haven. Here we got to witness first hand how these two loved each other—with depth, with honesty, and with romantic intensity.

We spent the evening laughing hard, climbing the dunes, and photographing the insane chemistry between the two of them.
As the sun set them aglow in a deep crimson, Luke and Katherine held each other close and drank it all in: the sunset, the peaceful quiet of the evening, and the countdown until their wedding day.
Nick + Maddie | Engagement
For their engagement session, Nick and Maddie knew they wanted incorporate some of the reasons why they love up North. So when they invited us to Maddie’s family home on Long Lake and asked if we wanted to go for a boat ride with them, the answer was an obvious: heck ya!

So when they invited us to Maddie’s family home on Long Lake and asked if we wanted to go for a boat ride with them, the answer was an obvious: heck ya! We cruised around the lake, taking in the view, as the late summer sun reflected hazily against the water. Later on, they showed us a few trails around the area and we spent the rest of the evening getting to know their story, laughing our butts off, and chatting about all the details for their wedding the following year.
